The Apostle Paul said; "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house," when asked the question, "what must I do to be saved." Suppose he had said, "Believe AS the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." What a difference that would have made in the World! To believe 'on' the Lord Jesus (or 'in Him') infers that there is Him and us. To believe AS Him indicates Oneness! And is that not what His prayer in John 17: 21 - 22 was all about? For to function AS 'Jesus', is the same as functioning as the Father, for He said 'I and the Father are One'
Even so, to say believe As 'Jesus', infers that 'Jesus' has reality... when the truth is no one has any being apart from God (the Father) or other than God. Which is why I would like to once again point out what God said in Exodus 6: 2 - 3, "I" am the Lord, and I appeared unto Abraham Isaac and Jacob by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah, was I not known to them". (Here is my interpretation of that portion of scripture) "I" am the Lord and I was known to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as God almighty, but by my name Jehovah, they knew me not. The issue of the Allness and Oneness of God, has been confused and distorted by referring to 'Jesus' as being God, or Jehovah as being God, when the truth is, there is ONLY God, and our names are only our names. Our names do not indicate what manner of beings we are; they only identify us from each other in this World of forms! The truth is every one of us; male or female could have been named 'Jesus', for that 'name' means God 'with' us! (Might it not also mean God is us? I am?) For to function As 'Jesus', is to function AS God... as the Father! Every man and every woman on Earth is God individualized! We are all One and that One is God! How could it be otherwise if He made each of us in His image and likeness?
