When Jonah was raised from the dead (and being in the belly of a whale for three days is certainly the equivalent of being dead for three days) the entire city of Ninevah repented! I have said more than once, that only if one is raised from the dead, will people pay attention to things such as I have written. But it does not mean that they (who have been raised from the dead) will experience (or have experienced) the Spiritual Rebirth! To 'repent', does not mean one has been 'born again'! Repenting only tends to bring about a spiritual conversion. What is significant is this... we do not experience the Spiritual Rebirth after we die! We would no doubt repent after dying, but repenting does not bring about one's Spiritual Rebirth!
It sets in motion our Spiritual quest! Our Spiritual Rebirth can only come about when we realize that the "I" within us is God... the Father! Only when we have been 'born again', can we 'enter' the Kingdom of God (Only As God, can we 'enter' the Kingdom of God... can we attain God consciousness) Only As we function AS the Father, do we need never die! (Read Jn.11: 25-26) This is the message that the rich man and his 5 brothers were in need of.
We will not be spared the fate of the rich man, (nor would his brothers) unless we have been 'born again'!
Dying does not bring about Spiritual enlightenment. We will believe no differently after we die than we did prior to our 'passing'. In fact, we may be even worse! (It did not change Jonah's mind) He was quite upset at seeing God spare the people of Ninevah. We will still see ourselves as being the person our parents created when they named us. Our Spiritual Rebirth can only come about when we realize that the "I" within us is God... the Father.
